What Goes into the Cost of an Eyelid Lift?
Blepharoplasty removes and tightens excess eyelid skin to counteract a tired appearance (cosmetic) or improve a patient’s vision (medical). The cost of laser eyelid surgery is also considerably higher than conventional blepharoplasty. Other variables that contribute to the total cost include:
- Medical tests
- Anesthesia fees (differs based on the type of anesthesia required)
- Facility expenses (ambulatory surgery facility or in-office operating suite)
- Type of procedure (upper, lower, or both)
- Surgeon’s fees
- Prescriptions and follow-up visits
- Geographic location
Since this procedure is done on an outpatient basis, the facility expenses are typically kept as low as possible.
Surgeon’s Fees
A surgeon’s fees will be based on his or her experience and whether they are board-certified. Choosing a skilled, board-certified surgeon is important to minimize post-surgery swelling, bruising, and downtime. Compared to other types of cosmetic surgery, this procedure can be completed for a reasonable cost.
What Are My Payment Options?
When both upper and lower surgeries are completed at the same time, you can save money in the long run. Most surgeons will accept payment in cash, check, or major credit card. Surgeons will often contract with individual financing companies to help ease the financial burden of blepharoplasty. Health insurance companies don’t generally cover eyelid surgery when done for cosmetic reasons, as it is considered an elective procedure. In some cases, where a vision test confirms a medical reason (ptosis), your insurance may cover the cost of your blepharoplasty. As with any major investment, it’s important to understand your financial obligations. Correa Plastic Surgery is committed to your overall care, including making sure you’re aware of all costs associated with your procedure.
What Procedure Is Right for Me?
While upper eyelid surgery can last between five and seven years, lower eyelid surgery rarely needs to be repeated. The natural aging process will continue, and you may want to consider repeating the upper procedure in the future. Dr. Correa can help you determine the right procedure or combination of procedures for you. During your consultation, we will answer your questions and review all the options, likely outcomes, and potential risks. Before preparing your unique treatment, we will take the time to understand your concerns, needs, and aesthetic goals. Loved Dr. Correa and his staff! They helped me greatly and made me feel comfortable from the very beginning. I am very pleased with my results and always recommend Dr. Correa to everyone.
