Are you having a hard time toning up your tummy, despite following a healthy diet and exercise regimen? Are you struggling to lose the pouch that’s commonly experienced by women after pregnancy?

If you found yourself nodding your head to any of the above questions, then you might be an excellent candidate for a tummy tuck. A tummy tuck is a plastic surgery procedure that repairs damaged abdominal walls and removes excess skin for a leaner appearance (note that a tummy tuck traditionally doesn’t include liposuction; depending on your plastic surgeon’s advice, you may need to add this procedure). A tummy tuck is a great option for patients who may be struggling to tone their stomachs as a result of pregnancy or significant weight loss.

As a tummy tuck is an abdominal procedure, patients should anticipate taking some time off for recovery. In general, it’s recommended that tummy tuck patients wait two weeks before undertaking sedentary activity (like working at an office). In terms of normal exercise routines, it’s advised that patients wait for four weeks before hitting the gym.

In addition to these recovery periods, you’ll be asked to refrain from lifting any heavy objects while you’re healing from your procedure. This includes lifting a baby or children, which is why it’s recommended that new mothers to hold off on their tummy tuck procedures or get round-the-clock care for recovery.

Your specific recovery plan will be discussed during your consultation with your plastic surgeon.
