Before your appointment, you will need a consultation with Dr. Correa both for safety and to discuss your concerns. He will evaluate your facial and hand structure to determine if the result you are seeking can be satisfactorily achieved with fillers. If the effects of aging or skin changes are very pronounced, he might suggest that it is time for you to consider surgery. He will ask health-related questions to determine if there are any health risks associated with providing you with this type of treatment such as allergies or sensitivity. However, the vast majority of people who see Dr. Correa for dermal facial fillers are very good candidates for fillers and enjoy the rapid improvement in their appearance that these products deliver.

During

When you arrive for facial fillers, your skin will be thoroughly cleansed and all makeup in the treatment area will need to be removed. Depending on the treatment you will receive, you will be given a topical anesthetic or simply have ice applied to the treatment area. Some fillers don’t require any pretreatment. After the skin is ready, the filler will be injected. There may be a slight sensation of stinging or warmth which goes away relatively quickly. If there is any redness or slight swelling, you may have a cold pack applied for 15 to 30 minutes while in the office. Usually, you can reapply makeup after the treatment and return to your normal activities.

Before

You will be asked to refrain from exercising on the day of treatment or possibly longer to minimize any swelling or bruising that might occur. The area shouldn’t be touched or massaged for several days unless the type of filler you received requires some massaging for a few days. You will be given full instructions on what to do following the treatment and whether or not follow up treatments are recommended to get the full effect you are seeking.
