The Woodlands Plastic Surgery
eyelid surgery
The periorbital region often demonstrates the earliest signs of aging and is often the first that people notice. The skin in this area is very thin, offering little resistance to the formation of wrinkles and puffiness. Drooping eyelids can interfere with vision and in pronounced cases interfere with simple tasks such as driving. Thankfully, Dr. Correa performs high-quality blepharoplasty, which can help reverse these unfortunate signs of aging.

types of eyelid procedures
Upper eyelid surgery addresses the excess skin and fat that can lead to the appearance of early aging. Correcting this problem involves tightening the skin and muscles in and around the eyelid. It may also require the removal of excess fat in the area which can be done at the same time. In some patients, as the muscles in the upper face relax, the skin over the eye can droop to such a degree that functionality is impaired and vision is obstructed. Normal daily activities such as driving, reading, and household activities can become difficult to do. In these cases the functional benefits can be significant.
Upper Eyelid
Upper eyelid surgery addresses functionality connected with vision. It also corrects chronic puffiness and sagging skin located in the upper eyelids. As the muscles in the upper face relax, the skin over the eye can droop to such a degree that functionality is impaired. Normal daily activities such as driving, reading, and household activities can become difficult to do.
Correcting this problem involves tightening the skin and muscles in and around the eyelid. It may also require the removal of excess fat in the area which can be done at the same time. Dr. Correa’s patients have remarked at how refreshed they look and feel from this one procedure. Removing excess skin and fat and altering the muscles that are responsible for expression is a skill requiring technical precision as well as a sense of artistry.
Lower Eyelid
Lower eyelid surgery is done to modify bags under the eyes, to correct wrinkling and to tighten a drooping lower lid. Excess fat can be removed through an incision just under the lower lashes or from behind the lid. The incisions in both upper and lower lid surgery are hidden by making the incisions in the natural fold of the eyelid. In the case of lower eyelid surgery the incision can sometimes be made only on the inside of the eyelid and therefore there is no visible scar. In addition to removing lower eye bags, Dr. Correa may recommend an additional procedure to remove any darkness that has developed. Eyelid surgery alone won’t address discolorations in that area.
Asian Eyelid Surgery
Patients with Asian heritage have unique anatomic eyelid characteristics which give the Asian eye its shape. Most of these anatomic changes are quite beautiful and define the exoticism frequently associated with Asian eyelids. However, some of these changes can be undesirable in certain patients, and furthermore the changes associated with aging manifest in different ways when compared with Caucasian patients. For example, Asian patients often do not have a crease in the upper eyelid and desire to create this crease. This surgery creates the appearance of a larger eye and for women makes the application of eye shadow and other cosmetics easier.
